I've been thinking about changing the look of the blog. I chose this template pretty impulsively soon after I created the blog, and I hadn't really given it any thought afterwards. Now I'm growing kind of sick of it, though. Since the people who happen by here are likely to have more blogging experience than me, I thought some of you might be able to offer me good suggestions about the look of the blog. What's practical? What's impractical? What's annoying about the look of it now that you would like to see changed? Oh, and if you have knowledge of how to make those changes, that would be helpful too. I'd also appreciate any non-aesthetic suggestions or comments that you might have. For instance, would you prefer that I post in Pig Latin? Or maybe you'd like more pictures of my wonderful son? Let me know in comments or email, and I will be forever in your debt.

I think the blog is great (I'm loving all the cogsci and philosophical content!), so I don't really have much to add. But as a "meta" suggestion, I'd recommend more hyperlinks to connect your posts (for example, you often mention an old post without actually linking to it).
You might even consider creating a set of 'category' posts (like on my sidebar) to arrange your archives by topic. It's a fair bit of work to get started, but easy enough to maintain, and it would be convenient to be able to quickly find your old posts on (say) metaphor, etc.
(It's not a big deal though, and if you can't be bothered, I guess we can always fall back on the search bar!)

Hey, that's a great suggestion. I should do that while I have extra time over the break.

Hey, I just spent two night re-doing my template. It's a drag. I like the look of your blog. Keep it simple, clean and lean. Loads faster that way, and it is easier on the eyes.

I actually like a lot of the way it is now, as far as basic format goes; but a lot of the best features of the layout would easily be preserved in a new template, as long as it was fairly simple and straightforward, if you decided to go that route. Given the sort of content you have, I like Richard's idea of coming up with a category system.
It's also a bit unusual to have the previous posts list at the bottom of the sidebar, although your sidebar content at present is short enough that it isn't actually a problem.
I think posts in Pig Latin would get very annoying very quickly; but pictures of your son are always welcome!

Hey, thanks for the suggestions. Any more you might have will be welcome. I think I'm going to work on the categories, and I might fiddle with the sidebar organization.
