OK, the four choices for the first book are... drumroll please:
- The Feeling of What Happens by Antonio Damasio
- The Cultural Origins of Human Cognition by Michael Tomasello
- In Gods We Trust by Scott Atran
- The Illusion of Conscious Will by Dan Wegner
I created a poll on the yahoo group for votes, but if you can't vote there, then you can send me a vote via email (please don't vote both ways). Get your votes in by noon central time on Saturday.

please vote for #2 everyone! and don't vote for atran's book! i already read it.
This is unrelated to the book vote, ...whatever. Question: Any idea whether there are any reviews of or commmentaries on Diane Pecher & Rolf Zwaan's (eds) (2005) Grounding Cognition? Any news or gossip about this particular text?
anon, I have only read the chapters by Barsalou and Goldstone, so I can't really say. It's another in the line of the recent "perceptual symbol systems" and other embodied approaches to representation. While I deeply respect and admire Barsalou, and Goldstone is a friend of mine, I'm not at all impressed with any of the other authors (Prinz' work in particular is frustratingly bad), so I haven't been in a hurry to read it.
