40K

At some point over the last couple days -- I'm not sure when, and I'm too lazy to go back and look -- I hit 40,000 "unique" visitors. I'll be damned if I know how I've gotten that many. Thanks, though, for stopping by, and I hope some of you have developed an interest in cog sci, or had your interest in it strengthened.

Feel free to drop me a comment or an email if there's anything you'd like to see posted or changed, or if you just want to say hi. Thanks again.

I just found your blog about a week ago, so I'm a recent contributor to that 40,000. I don't have anything interesting to say but I thought I'd introduce myself and say 'hello.'

I'm a student (sort of--was and will be again very shortly) deeply interested in education--institutions, teaching and learning--and only in the last few months have I come to appreciate how important cog sci (and related disciplines) is to getting all that right. Your writing is very accessible and informative, and I've found it very helpful.

So, um, thanks! Maybe soon I'll have something intelligent to add to the conversation.

Congrats!

I have to say, your blog is a lot more interesting than the cognitive psychology course I took last semester. *sigh*. Though this semester I'm doing a "cognitive science" philosophy paper which looks more promising.

Are you interested in representation and intentionality at all, Chris? I guess it's more philosophy of mind than cognitive psyc, but I'm curious about how it is thoughts are capable of "aboutness" when other physical systems aren't. (Although the venus fly trap might respond to the presence of a fly, it seems implausible to say that it really represents the fly's presence in any deep sense.)

I've been a lurker for a while - but I do enjoy your writing. I'm actually working on applying to grad school for cog sci, and though my particular interests are HCI, interactive cognition, AI and embodied cognition, I do enjoy the philosophical discourse as well ;)

If you have any suggestions for a prospective grad student, do let me know ...
